General Guidelines:

  1. Food or gum is not permitted in class. Students may bring a snack for between classes, but it must be consumed outside the classroom.
  2. Please remind your dancer to use the restroom prior to class.
  3. Dance shoes are encouraged, but not required. Please see apparel guidelines for questions.
  4. Dancers wear clothing that does not restrict movement for all classes and shows. For example, elastic waist pants, or shorts of cotton, nylon, or jersey material; and a t-shirt or sleeveless shirt.
  5. Dancers must put their name or initials inside their shoes, or carry them in a bag containing their name or initials.
  6. During class time, dancers are expected to remain in the classroom unless otherwise told by Dancing Disciples staff. Staff members will be available to assist dancers with changing shoes.
  7. Parents, please pick up and drop off your dancer in a timely manner, in interest of the safety of your child.
  8. To help maintain order and minimize distractions, parents/guardians are encouraged to only view dancers from outside the classroom and during show events.

Classroom Placement:

Placement for dance classes is based on age and grade, not by skill level. Dancing Disciples is dedicated to providing new and exciting material for all dancers, regardless of skill level. All dancers entering Dancing Disciples must be at least 3 years old and potty-trained by the first day of class.

Poor Weather Policy:

In the incident of inclement weather, please use the following guidelines to determine whether Dancing Disciples classes will meet or not:
  • If schools are closed in the area of your location, then Dancing Disciples classes are also closed.
  • Check the website. Each location will be listed separately as closed if classes are cancelled.
  • If you still have questions or concerns, you are welcome to call the host location or the Director.
  • For weekend classes please check the website, and call only the Director with questions.

Safety:

For the safety of all dancers, please escort your child to and from the classroom entrance. Dancing Disciples staff will make every reasonable effort to ensure the safety of the children, but it is the parent's/guardian's responsibility to appropriately pick up and drop off their child in a timely manner. Neither Dancing Disciples or the host location are responsible for the loss of valuable items, so please be aware of locking car doors in the parking lot, and not leaving bags unattended outside the classroom. In addition, please use only the specified entrance for each location.

Show:

At the end of each semester and camp, the dancers can participate in a show. Participation is optional, but most dancers find it to be a worthwhile worship experience. All friends and family are invited to watch free of charge. Showcase locations are often held outside classroom locations. Please see schedules page for details. There are no costumes needed to participate in the show. Dancers are asked to wear their Dancing Disciples t-shirt and any form of dark bottoms. On occasion staff may need a few volunteer parents to assist with organizing the dancers the day of the show. Ask the Director for details.
